Training and Capacity Building Solutions

The Canadian Centre for Environmental Science Management (CCESM) is a collaborative forum established to promote Canadian expertise and excellence in environmental high technology through the delivery of training and institutional capacity building programs domestically and internationally.

Canada is recognized as a world leader in environmental science and its expertise is broadly distributed across universities, research institutes, the private sector and various levels of government. Many of these organizations have established their reputations for excellence through specialization in particular areas of science or policy. However, few of these organizations have training programs accessible to local or international beneficiaries, and the spectrum of content delivered tends to be narrow and focused.

The Canadian Centre for Environmental Science Management provides a means to deliver highly specialized training and capacity building programs that fit the specific needs of recipient organizations by drawing on this large pool of Canadian expertise and providing a common logistics/training infrastructure and information resource centre. This PPP (Private-Public Partnership) initiative is operated by the Canadian Science Management Group in collaboration with the University of Victoria (UVIC) and the Institute of Ocean Sciences (IOS), Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada.
